She was taught to play the piano by her father and she first performed in public when she was seven years old in April 1776. She frequently appeared in concerts with her friend, the pianist Anna von Schaden. At least in 1787 she also sang a concert, but later she had to give up singing for health reasons. her father had also educated her as a piano maker and when he died in 1792 she was able to continue his workshop. Supported by Strecher and by their son Johann Baptist she expanded the company into one of the main piano makers in Vienna. With her husband she organised concerts in Vienna and from 1812 they had their own piano salon with room for 300 visitors. She continued to play piano hersel in private for friends and visitors and sometimes her daughter Sophie (1797-1840) joined her.
