Johann Baptist Streicher was the son of Andreas Streicher and Nannette Streicher-Stein. In the piano factory of his parents he learned to make piano's and in 1823 he became a partner in their company. After his parents both died in 1833 he became the owner of the company. It prospered and became well known all over the world. The piano maker Johann Bernhard Klems (1812-1872) was one of his students. His first wife was Auguste André (1802-1847). Their son Emil Streicher ran the company after his death until he sold it to Stingl Brothers in 1896 after his own son Theodor didn't want to succeed him. On 7 January 1849 he married his second wife, the pianist Friederike Müller (1816-1895). He died in 1871 in Vienna. Family Father: Streicher, Andreas Mother: Streicher-Stein, Nanette |
