Louis Leménil made his acting debut in the provinces. In 1827 he came to Paris where he was engaged at the Théâtre de la Gaîté. In 1834 he moved to the Théâtre du Palais-Royal. He married Élisa Gougibus who joined him at the Théâtre du Palais-Royal. In 1850 they went to St. Petersburg where they lived and worked for 16 years until they retired. He died in Paris after an operation in 1872. The architects Émile Leménil (1832-1923) and Edme Leménil (1836-1884) were his sons. Family Wife: Gougibus, Élisa |
