Élisa Gougibus was the daughter of the mime actor Jean Toussaint Gougibus (1767-1842). She entered the stage as Mademoiselle Élisa in 1811 as Nichon in "La petite Nichon ou La petite paysanne de la Moselle". After she married the actor Louis Leménil she appeared as Madame Leménil. In 1838-1839 she played several parts at the Théâtre du Palais-Royal. She often appeared with her husband and they spent sixteen years in Russia. |
