Claudie Viardot was the second daughter of Pauline Viardot-Garcia and Louis Viardot. There was speculation that the composer Charles Gounod may have been her real father. In 1874 she married the publisher and editor Georges Chamerot (1845-1922). They had three children. Claudie Viardot painted the portrait of Carlotta Zambelli (1897) and Julia Bartet (1914). She died in 1914 in Évreux and was buried with her mother at the Montmartre cemetery in Paris.
