Alice Hetsey was educated in Vienna by the actor and playwright Konrad Loewe (1856-1912) and by the actor and sculptor Karl Arnau (1842-1910). She debuted on the stage at the Raimundtheater on 30 January 1898. In 1901 she married the writer Rudolf Holzer.

In 1904 she moved to the Deutsche Volkstheater in Vienna where she worked for 25 years. During the 1920s she appeared in a number of supporting roles in movies, including "Prater" (1924). After 1929 she continued her theatrical career as a freelance actress.
