Konrad Loewe was the son of a merchant. He studied law in Vienna, but after he was very successful in a student performance of "Wilhelm Tell" in 1877 he switched to acting in 1878. He was engaged in Elbing, Brünn,Teplitz and Olmütz before he moved to the Königliche National-Theater in Berlin in 1881. After several more stations in Germany and Austria he was engaged at the Burgtheater in Vienna in 1888. In 1891 he moved to the Volkstheater in Vienna, but in 1895 he returned to the Burgtheater. There he played many important parts, among them Hamlet. He worked at the Burgtheater until his death in 1912 in Vienna. His wife was the singer Mathilde Sax.
