Loni Heuser started as an operetta performer. She debuted at the Theater at the Nollendorfplatz in Berlin and by the time she was 24 she was a successful star in Berlin.

Before the war she had a few small parts in movies, but after 1950 her movie career really took off. She was in many movies and in 1976 she performed next to Johannes Heesters in the musical "Gigi" at the Theater des Westens in Berlin. She was 67 at the time and Heesters was five years older.

In 1950 she had married the composer Theo Mackeben, but he died only three years later. At the end of the 1970s she retired from acting.
