The soprano Mizzi Günther rew up in Reichenberg (now Liberec). She was taught by her future husband A. Fischer and she probably debuted at the Sommertheater in Prague in 1897. From 1897 to 1899 she was engaged at the Theater von Hermannstadt. After that she worked in Vienna, Teplitz and Karlsbad. In 1901 she was contracted by the Carltheater in Vienna. On 9 March 1901 she successfully appeared in the premiere of Ziehrer's operetta "Die Drei Wünsche". In 1903 the ensemble of the Carltheater travelled to Russia. She appeared in the premiere of Léhar's "De Lustige Witwe" on 30 December 1905 and she would the part of Hanna Glawari over thousand times. She also sang in the premiere of Kálman's operetta "Die Csárdásfürstin" on 17 November 1915. In later years she mostly worked as an actress but she still made guest appearances at the Vienna State Opera between 1950 and 1952. She married the actor Fred Hennings who was almost sixteen years her junior. Events |
