Magda Lena was the daughter of the author Anton von Perfall. Her mother was the actress Magda Irschick. She started her own acting career in Regensburg. In Munich she was engaged at the Bavarian State Theatre and in 1920 she married the painter Joseff Achmann. She earned money for them both and if he earned anything with his own work he spent it immediately. In the 1930s she performed in several movies. After she started her own acting school they lived in an appartment with a studio in Bogenhausen. Among her students were Hans Baur and Peter Pasetti. After her death in Munich in 1940 Achmann kept her ashes at home until they were buried with him in Schliersee in 1958.
