Magda Irschick was deeply impressed when she saw Julie Rettich at the Burgtheater in Vienna. She took acting lessons and after a recommendation by Heinrich Laubes she was engaged at the Thaliatheater in Hamburg in 1864. After five months she moved on to Königsberg. Her career there was interrupted by the war between Austria and Germany in 1866. After a short spell in Berlin she went to the USA where she debuted in New York City and was successful in Philadelphia and Baltimore. Back in Europe she appeared in several cities before she was engaged at the Court Theatre in Munich in 1875. In 1877 she married the author Anton von Perfall. During the next years she travelled all over Germany and all over the USA. She travelled as far as San Francisco where she was very successful. In 1882 she accepted an engagement at the Stadttheater in Leipzig, but in 1883 she withdrew from the stage and settled with her husband in Schliersee. There her husband died in 1912. She lived until 1935 before she followed him to the grave. Family Daughter: Achmann, Magda Lena Husband: Perfall, Anton, Freiherr von (1877-1912) |
