Barbara Fröhlich was the second of the four Fröhlich sisters. She was multi-talented and played the piano and the violin, was an excellent singer and also a painter of miniatures. From an early age she sang with her sister Anna in the musical circles of Vienna. Like her family she was friendly with Franz Schubert and Franz Grillparzer. In 1816 she debuted as a singer at the Theater an der Wien in François Adrien Boieldieu's opera "Johann von Paris". Although she was successful as a singer, she chose for an education as a painter and a drawing teacher. Moritz Michael Daffinger was her teacher. During the 1820s she exhibited her works several times in Vienna. She married the flutist Ferdinand Bogner (1786-1846) in 1825. Their son Wilhem was born on 19/08/1826. Ferdinand Bogner died in 1846 and on 25/05/1848 her son died as well. Barbara herself died in 1878 of 1879 in vienna.
