Daughter of Marx Brenner, who worked for the Fürstbischof of Saxony. When she was 21 years old she was married to Anton von Weber at the Schottenkirche in Vienna. Her husband was 51 years old and it was his second marriage. They had three children. Two of them died early, the third was the composer Carl Maria von Weber. Her husband's brother Fridolin (d.1785) had been the father of Mozart's wife Constanze weber.

At the time of her marriage she had been a succsdul singer in Vienna. After Carl Maria was born in 1786 they travelled to Hamburg in 1787 where her husband founded a wandering theatre company. they performed in cities like Kassel, Nürnbeg (1791-1794), Erlangen, Ansbach, Bayreuth, Rudolstadt and Weimar. In Weimar she performed in several parts at Goethe's theatre.

In 1797 the family moved to Salzburg, where Carl Maria was taught by Michael Haydn in 1798. Genoveva died in 1798 before her sons first work was completed and she was buried at the St. Sebastiansfriedhof in Salzburg.
