Max Pallenberg was born ito a family that had come from Galicia to Vienna. He was educated as an actor and worked in the provinces before Josef Jarno engaged him at the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna in 1904. In 1908 he moved to the Theater an der Wien where he appeared in operattas like "Der Graf von Luxemburg" (1911). In 1911 he went to Munich and in 1914 Max Reinhardt contracted him for the Deutsche Theater in Berlin. In 1917 he married the actress Fritzi Massary. In the 1920s he made several guest appearances in other countries and he appeared at the Festspiele in Salzburg where he was Teufel in "Jedermann" (1926). He also played in silent movies. In 1933 he went into exile in Austria with Fritzi, who was Jewish. In 1934 he died during a plain crash in Karlsbad. Related persons was directed by Reinhardt, Max Events |
