Together with her husband she managed a workshop for young women painters from upper class families in the Grande Galerie du Louvre. Apart from painting the young women spent their time on fashion as well. It was said that she treated the young ladies like they were her own daughters. Only two paintings of Sophie Regnault are known. One is a self portrait that is now at the Ponce Art Museum in Puerto Rico. She was painted herself in 1809 by Henriette Lorimier (1775-1854).
