Giulio Robecchi was the brother of the author Giuseppe Robecchi (1805-1874). He studied medicin in Turin. He was a patriot and following political trials in 1833 he was forced to flee to Switzerland and from there to France. In 1834 he was authorised to work as a physician in France, specialising in childhood diseases.

In France he met other Italians like Giovanni Ruffini and Vincenzo Gioberti. In 1842 he visited Mazzini in London. He was a close friend of Cornelia Boinville-Turner and after he died in Paris from a kidney infection in 1846 he was buried in the tomb of her family at the Montmartre cemetery.
