Sarah Duhamel was the daughter of the actor and theatre director Napoléon Duhamel (1843-1910) and the Belgian operetta singer Bibiane Augustine Goffard (1844-1901). Her older sister Biane Duhamel (1870-1910) was an operetta singer. Fron 1889 Sarah appeared in theatres in Paris. In 1893 she debuted as a singer at the Eldorado. The next two years she toured in Italy and in the South of France. After her return to Paris she sang at café-concert venues. From 1910 to 1916 she worked under director Romeo Bosetti for Pathé frères and appeared in many movies, including the Rosalie and the Pétronille series. In 1915 she married the actor Édouard Louis Schmitt (1884-1972). Rosetti left the cinema in 1916 after he was wounded in the First World War. After the war ended she continued her career but she was less successful. She died in 1926 in Paris and was buried at Père Lachaise. Her husband and her sister Bianca are buried in the same grave.
