Lilli Schulz was one of the first sixteen students in the music school of Philipp Schmitt. Later she also studied under Martin Wallenstein. She was friendly with the family of Court Musical Director Carl Amand Mangold and she taught his son Wilhelm. In 1878 she became a honorary member of the Musikverein in Darmstadt. In the same year she married its president, Otto Wolfskehl. After her marriage she ended her teaching activities.

She was made a Grand Ducal Chamber Virtuoso and during the First World War she appeared as a pianist for charities.
