Blanch Pierson was born on the island of Réunion. She came from a family of actors that had moved to France by 1847. The actor Numa (1800-1869) was her uncle. She entered the stage when she was eleven years old. When she was fourteen, she came to Paris where she appeared at the Théâtre de l'Ambigu and at the Théâtre du Vaudeville. In 1859 she performed the part of Anna in "Les Petites Mains" by Eugène Labiche and Édouard Martin. Soon after that she joined the Théâtre du Gymnase where she worked until 1884. In 1871 she was Mme de Termonde in "La Princesse Georges" by Alexandre Dumas fils and she was praised by Dumas himself. Her name was made after her successful appearance in "La Dame aux camélia"s" when that play was revived in 1872. In 1884 she switched to the Comédie-Française where she debuted a Mme de Thauzette in "Denise" by Alexandre Dumas fils on 19 January 1884. She appeared in many more plays and befriended the actress Bianca (1841-1912). In 1910 she became a member of the reading committee of the Comédie-Française. She never visited Réunion again and died in Paris in 1919. She was buried at the Passy cemetery in that city. Related persons was a friend of Bianca |
