Riki Raab attended the Ballet School of the Vienna State Opera until 1910 and took singing lessons as well. From 1910 until 1933 she danced at the State Opera. In 1911 she debuted in the title role of "Nippes". She debuted as a singer in 1913 in Franz Liszt's "Die Legende der heiligen Elisabeth". In 1918 she obtained a contract as first solo dancer ('Koryphaë') and in 1921 she became primaballerina. In 1925 she appeared in Robert Wiene's film "Der Rosenkavalier". In 1930 the Augarten Manufaktur created a porcelain dancing figurine to her likeness. From 1829 to 1931 she taught at the Conservatory in Vienna and from 1938 she was a professor at the Academy of Music in Vienna. Her pupils included Wera Goldman and Gerlinde Dill. In 1946, after World War II, she gave lectures about famous ballet artists of the Vienna State Opera. She wrote a book about them as well. In 1960 she created the Fanny-Elssler-Ring, named after the famous dancer Fanny Elssler (1810-1884) as an equivalent to the Iffland Ring that was awarded to actors. She died in Vienna in 1997.
