Daughter of the architect and scenery painter Clemens Holzmeister. She took acting lessons at the Max-Reinhardt-Seminar in Vienna, where Tilla Durieux was one of her teachers. She worked at the Landestheater in Linz, where she was miseable, and at the Volkstheater in Vienna. In 1947 she was engaged at the Burgtheater in Vienna and there she worked until 1985. In 1950 and in 1951 she was Buhlschaft in "Jedermann" at the Festspiele in Salzburg. She also appeared in movies, among them "Der Feuerteufel" (1940) and "Wiener Mädeln" (1949). From 1947 to 1955 she was married to the actor Curd Jürgens. In 1959 she married the actor Bruno Dallansky and this marriage lasted until her death in 2008. Her husband died six weeks after her and was buried at the Hernals Cemetery in Vienna. It was after the burial of her husband that she was buried in a grave of honour at the Zentralfriedhof in Vienna on 11 Sep 2008. Family Husband: Jürgens, Curd (1947-1955) |
