Blanche Aubry was the daughter of the clock mechanic Abel Pierre Louis Aubry. She took acting lessons in Basel and she worked at the Stadttheater Basel as a dancer (1939-1941) and as an actress and a singer (1941-1945). After the war she worked in Zürich, at cabarets and again in Basel. There she met the actor Leopold Biberti who became her companion on the stage as well as in her life. She moved to Vienna where she worked for the Theater in der Josefstadt and from 1959 to 1986 for the Burgtheater. In 1959 she married the German actor Götz von Langheim. She was very successful in musicals like the German version of Bernstein's "Candide" in 1963. She also appeared at the Festspiele in Salzburg. In 1968 she received the Jozef Kainz Medal of the City of Vienna and in 1979 she received the title of Kammerschauspielerin. In 1986 she became a honorary member of the Burgtheater. She died in the same year in Vienna and was buried at the Zentralfriedhof in Vienna. In 2013 Götz died and he was buried in the same grave. Family Husband: Langheim, Götz von (1959-1986) |
