Franz Ledwinka studied at the Music Academy in Vienna. He worked in Salzburg where he organised numerous musical events. From 1907 to 1949 he directed a piano class at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. His best known pupil there was Herbert von Karajan. He created over 200 compositions.
