Jenny Lutzer was trained as a singer from an early age. Among her teacher were Cicimara and Elisabeth Zomb-Tauber (1786-1831). She entered the stage in Prague when she was sixteen years old. She held engagements in Teplitz and Prague. Between 1837 and 1842 she succesfully worked at the Kärtnertortheater in Vienna as a soprano and a soubrette. During that period she was formally appointed Royal Chamber Singer. In 1842 she sang in London. In 1843 she married the poet and theatre director Franz von Dingelstedt and she followed him to Stuttgart (1843), Munich (1850), Weimar (1857) and Vienna. Her salon in Vienna was well visited and she died in that city in 1877.
