Hansi Niese learned herself acting and debuted in 1891 in Znaim. In 1893 she became successful at the Raimundtheater where she was a soubrette for six years. In 1899 she moved to the Theater in der Josefstadt and in that same year she married its director Josef Jarno. She continued her career at the stages in Vienna but also appeared in Berlin. Many times she was on the stage with Alexander Girardi who was very popular as well. During the early 1930s she appeared in several movies. She died in 1934 in Vienna and was buried next to her huband at the Zentralfriedhof in Vienna. In 1938 a statue of her by Josef Müllner was placed next to the Volkstheater in Vienna.
