Edmond de Goncourt mostly cooperated with his brother Jules de Goncourt.They produced novels, art criticism and a journal. After Jules Edmond wrote books on his own. He was also a collector of old books. When he died he left his estate for the foundation of the Académie Goncourt in honour of his brother Jules. Each December since 1903 the Académie Goncourt awards the Prix Goncourt.

19/12/1888Premiere of "Germinie Lacerteux" by Edmond de Goncourt at the Odéon Theatre in Paris. The play was based on the novel of the same name written by Jules and Edmond de Goncourt.
