Laure de Girardin de Montgérald was a Creole from Martinique. She came from a family of sugar panters. Her father was Pierre de Girardin de Montgérald (1721-1782) and her mother was Claire Elisabeth Hooke de Gatteville. Her first husband was Alexandre-Francois Le Vassor de la Touche de Longpre (1744 - 1779). In 1779 she had a son from an affair with Alexandre de Beauharnais, the future husband of Joséphine de Beauharnais. Joséphine was Laure's cousin. She met general Arthur Dillon in the Antilles and they married in 1785 in France. Their daughter Fanny Dillon was born in the same year and they had more children. Her husband was a royalist and he died under the guillotine in1794. Laure died in 1817. Family Daughter: Bertrand-Dillon, Fanny |
