Adolphe Brisson was the son of the publisher Jules Brisson. He married Yvonne Sarcey, the daughter of the literary critic Francisque Sarcey. In 1898 he became a member of the Astronomical Society of France. In 1902 his father died and he succeeded him as the director of the "Annales politiques et littéraires". In 1903 he was awarded the Narcisse-Michaut prize. His son Pierre Brisson (1896-1964) was the director of "Le Figaro" from 1938 to 1964.
