Mary Samary was the daughter of the cellist Jacques Samary. Her mother Elisabeth Brohan was the daughter of the actress Suzanne Brohan. The actors Henry Samary and Marie Samary were her brother and sister. She married the actor Paul Esquier on 23 June 1870 in Paris and the poet, playwright and actor Charles Esquier is their son. She had a long career at the Théâtre du Vaudeville , the Théâtre du Gymnase , the Théâtre de l'Odéon, the Théâtre de l'Ambigu and further theatres. In 1891 she performed the part of Marquerite in Paul Delair's "Hélène" at the Théâtre du Vaudeville. In 1912 she was Madame Vagret in Eugène Brieux's "La robe Rouge" at the Théâtre de la Porte-Saint-Martin. Circa 1881 Jules Bastien-Lepage painted her portrait.
