The soprano Angela Kolniak studied music and singing in her native Vienna. She started her singing career in 1919 in Aussig in Bohemia. In 1921 she was engaged at the State Opera in Dresden, where she debuted as Michaela in Carmen next to Eva von der Osten and Tino Pattiera.

For decades she was a favourite with the public in Dresden. She sang in many Mozart operas but also in the "Rosenkavelier". Her engagement at the State Opera lasted until the 1950s. For many years she was also active as a singing teacher in Dresden. She died in Dresden in 1964.
