Margot Werner was the daughter of a businessman and a pianist. After a visit to Circus Krone when she was four years old she wanted to be a dancer. She attended the children's ballet of the Bavarian State Opera and she studied at the Landestheater in Salzburg. She also studied under Friderica Derra de Moroda. When she was seventeen years old she was engaged at the Bavarian State Ballet in Munich. From 1959 onwards she was a solo dancer and she worked with John Cranko, John Neumeier and Heinz Bosl. In 1972 Bert Grund composed three songs for her and she started a new career as a singer. She had her own television show "Von Margot bis Montag" and appeared in many German television programs as a dancer and a singer. She had her biggest success as a singer in 1977 with "So ein Mann". In 1978 she married the businessman Jochen Litt and she supported his hotel in Tirol until he went bankrupt in 2005. As an actress she appeared in operettas, but in 1986 she was also in the German television crime series Tatort. She killed herself in 2012 by jumping out of a window in a clinic in Munich.
