Jeanne Ugalde was the daughter of the singer Marquerite Ugalde and and the granddaughter of the singer Delphine Ugalde. Her father is unknown. She studied at a convent and from 1903 at the Conservatory in Paris. Charles Le Bargy was one of her teachers. She debuted at the Casino de Dieppe in a revue. In 1908 she was engaged at the Théâtre des Variétés in Paris. She sang operetta for the first time at the Théâtre des Folies-Dramatiques in Paris. In 1909 she joined the Théâtre de la Porte-Saint-Martin and at the end of that year she returned to the Théâtre des Variétés in Paris. She also worked at the Théâtre Michel and at other theatres.
