Therese Biedermann started acting as a child and appeared at the Hofburgtheater and the Stadttheater in 1877 and 1878. Her professional debut took place at the Sommertheater in Mödling in 1882. In 1884 she went to Brno where she debuted in "Die Näherin". After an engagement in Graz she was engaged at the Theater an der Wien in 1886. She worked there from 1886 to 1890 and from 1891 to 1901. She often appeared with Alexander Girardi and was one of the best known soubrettes in Vienna. In 1887 she sang in the premiere of "Simplicius" by Johann Strauss. In 1901 she went to the Carl-Theater and in 1904 she took leave of the stage at the Danzer's Orpheum. In 1890 she had married the real estate owner Richard Edler von Singer (1860-1920). After the First World War her husband died and she lost her fortune due to inflation. In 1926 she asked for financial help through the press. She suffered from depression and from 1931 she lived in a mental institution for a year. She died in 1942 in Vienna. Related persons performed with Girardi, Alexander |
