Helmi Mareich was educated as an actress in Graz. After she completed her studies she went to Berlin to play in movies. In 1942 she was in "Der Seniorchef". In 1943 she worked with Heinz Rühmann in "Die Feuerzangenbowle". Before the premiere of the movie of 1944 she had returned to Graz after Berlin was bombed. After the war she worked in theatres in Vorarlberg and Linz. In 1953 she moved to the Volkstheater in Vienna. She worked there until her retirement in 1987 and performed in plays by Raimund, Arthur Miller, Nestroy and many others. She also appeared in television productions.
