The contralto Dagmar Hermann held her first engagement at the Opera House of Brno. In 1946 she was contracted by the State Opera in Vienna, were she worked for a long time. Between 1948 and 1954 she also appeared at the Festspiele in Salzburg, where she was Annina in "Der Rosenkavalier" and Dorabella in "Così fan tutte". In 1950 she appeared at La Scala in Milan where Wilhelm Furtwängler conducted Wagner's "Ring". She made further appearances in Paris, Barcelona, Bordeaux and Brussels. For a short time she was married to the opera singer Hans Braun.
