Robert Balajthy worked as a stage actor from an early age. He performed in the province. After a guest appearance in Vienna he was engaged at the Raimondtheater and from 1910 to 1912 at the Burgtheater.

He suffered from stage fright and eventually he gave up the stage in 1912. He appeared in several movies, among them "Das Grinsende Gesicht" (1921)" and "Die Venus" (1922). But he lost his fortune through inflation and in 1924 he committed suicide.
