BIRTH NAME Morstadt, Amalie

Amalie Haizinger first appeared at the Hoftheater in Karslruhe when she was five years old. When she was sixteen she married the actor Carl Neumann. Their two daughters Louise (1818-1895) and Adolfine (1822-1844) both became actresses. Louise married Graf Karl von Schönfeld (1828-1886) in 1857.

After her husband's death Amalie married the tenor Anton Haizinger (1796-1869) in 1827. She worked until 1845 in Karlsruhe. In 1846 she was engaged at the Burgtheater in Vienna where she remained until her death. On the occasion of her 50th birthday in 1850 she was painted by Johann Baptist Reiter. The portrait is now at the Schlossmuseum in Linz.

She died in 1884 and was buried at the Evangelischer Friedhof Matzleinsdorf in Vienna. Her new gravestone states the year of her death incorrectly as 1848.
