Enrico Tamberlik was born in Rome. He may have been of Romanian descent. He studied in Naples with Zirilli and Borna, in Bologna with Guglielmi and in Milan with De Aella. He debuted in 1837 and after that he appeared at the Teatro Apollo in Rome and at the Teatro Fondo in Naples in 1841. There he used the name Enrico Danieli, but when he subsequently appeared at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples he used the name Enrico Tamberlik.

In 1850 he performed at Covent Garden in London and he regularly returned there until 1870. He also appeared in Madrid, Barcelona, St. Petersburg and Buenos Aires. In 1877 he performed at Her Majesty's Theatre in London and in 1878 at the wedding of king Alfonso XII. In 1881 he toured in Spain and he retiured afterwards. He died in PAris in 1889.
