Andrée Vaurabourg studied piano at the Conservatory in Paris where she won a first prize in counterpoint. In 1926 she married Arthur Honegger on his condition that they would continue to live in separate homes. In 1932 they had a daughter, Pascale. During a car crash in Spain in 1934 Honegger was slightly injured but she broke both her knees and she never fully recovered. They tried to live together in 1935 but this lasted for less than a year. During her career she often performed her husband's compositions. Pierre Boulez studied counterpoint with her from 1944 to 1946. Family Husband: Honegger, Arthur (1926-) |
