Helene Schneeberger debuted in Mannheim in 1860 and was engaged at the Nationaltheater in that city until 1864. After a guest appearance in 1863 she was contracted by the Thalia-Theater in Hamburg in 1864.

Heinrich Laube engaged her for guest performances at the Burgtheater in Vienna in 1865 and 1867. In 1868 she married the actor and director Ernst Hartmann. In 1870 she became Hofschaupielerin (Court actress) in Vienna.
