Ilse Korn is known as the author of children's books. She also wrote under the name of Cornelia Holm. She lived with her husband Vilmos Korn at the Ernst-Thälmann-Straße 55 in Kleinmachnow near Berlin. They had a daughter, Nina Madlen Korn. Her husband was a communist and Ilse was arrested by the Gestapo in 1943. She survived the bombing of Dresden while she was still imprisoned. After the war the Russians gave her several positions in the DDR. She continued living in Kleinmachmow and she made herself a name with her children´s stories. She continued her work until her death in 1975. She was buried beside her husband who had died in 1970. |
