Frederick Lablache was the son of the opera singer Luigi Lablache from Naples. He was educated by his father. In 1837 he sang in Italian Opera at the King's Theatre in London. In Manchester he sang with Giulia Grisi and Favanti. Also in Manchester he sang in "La sonnambula" next to Jenny Lind during her first visit to that city on 28 Aug 1847. In 1849 he appeared with her in other productions under the management of Michael Balfe.

He retired from the stage in 1865 and concentrated on teaching afterwards. Lablache was married to the Scottish singer Fanny Wyndham (born Wilton), who died in Paris on 23 Sep 1877. Their son Luigi Lablache (1851-1914) became a singer was well.
