Dachter of the medalist Friedrich Wilhelm Facius (1764-1843). Because she was born on the night before the Battle of Jena and Auerstadt her second name was Bellonata. She was educated for five years by her father and by Peter Kaufmann in Weimar. Goethe as well as the Duke of Weimar recognised her talents early and she was able to continue her studies with Christian Daniel Rauch in Berlin.There Rietschel and Drake were her fellow students. From 1835 onwards she worked in Weimar where she created many medals of her contemporaties.
