Amélie Heussner was engaged as a soubrette at the theatres of Kassel and Leipzig. During an opera rehearsal she met Arthur Nikisch and she married him in 1885. After her marriage she worked as a singing teacher. She was the author of the operetta "Meine Tante, deine Tante" (1911) and of the opera "Daniel in der Löwengrube" (1914).
