Brother of Helena Vetsera and uncle of Mary Vetsera. In 1874 he was introduced to the empress Elisabeth of Austria in England and in 1876 his horse Kisbér won the Derby of England and a few weeks later also the Grand Prix of Paris. He was present at the secret burial of Mary in Heiligenkreuz after she was found death together with crown prince Rudolph of Austria at Mayerling. After his death stories went round that he might have killed Rudolf in an attempt to get Mary away from him.
