Françoise Rose Somis was the daughter of a chief engineer of the porr of Marseille. Her brother was the general Justinien Victor Somis. She married the silk merchant Francóis Clary (1725-1794). She was nicknamed Grandmother of Europe because her descendants were on the thrones of several countries. Her daughter Désiree became Queen of Sweden and her daughter Julie sat on the throne of Spain. She died in 1815 in Paris and was buried at Père Lachaise in a mausoleum where several other members of the Clary family were buried as well. Family Daughter: Clary, Julie |
