Pierre Hippolity was the last 'officier d'ordonnance' van Napoleon during the Battle of Waterloo. He served as battalion chief of the Engineers in the army and as commander of the firefighters of the City of Paris. He published works on the siege of Barcelona in 1714 and the siege of Zaragoza in 1809, but also a treatise on philosophy. He was married to the poet and author Anne de la Piquelière de Messeme (born Anne Holmes). He received the Légion d'honneur. His grave monument at Père Lachaise in Paris was restored in 2006.
