Otto Friedrich studied art in Weimar from 1887 to 1895. His teachers were Leopold von Kalkreuth and Carl Frithjof Smith. After that he worked as a painter of landscapes and portraits. He exhibited in Berlin, Munich and Düsseldorf. In 1919 he was engaged as a professor at the Bauhaus in Weimar, but after conflicts he withdrew early in 1920 from his position and returned to freelance painting. He was a friend of Max Beckmann and Rudolf Steiner, whose portrait he painted in 1892. He died in Weimar in 1940. |
