Adolf Wilhelmj was the son of the violinist August Wilhelmj, who had worked with Richard Wagner. His mother was Sophie von Liphart. In 1895 Adolf was engaged at the Conservatory of Belfast to teach the violin. In 1898 he went to Ireland where he became a teacher at the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM). There Arthur Warren Darley (1873-1929) was his pupil. In 1900 Wilhelmj toured on the continent. He died in 1916.
