Berto Barbarini was born in the old center of Verona near the Ponte Nuovo. His father ran a hardware store. He studied law at he University of Padua, but abandoned his studies after his first exams. In 1895 his first volume of poems "El rosario del cor" was published. He became a journalist and worked for the newspapers L'Adige and Gazzettino.

He became close friends with fellow dialect poets Alfredo Testoni (1856-1931) from Bologna and Carlo Alberto Salustri (1871-1950) from Rome. He published several further works until 1942. His wife Anna Turrini died in the autumn of 1944 and Barbarini died early in 1945 in Verona.
